DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN OUTSIDE BARCLAYS CENTER–
A cyclist was killed and three others injured in a crash this early Monday morning outside the Barclays Center in Downtown Brooklyn.
According to Authorities, an SUV heading northbound on Flatbush Avenue crossed the double yellow line, went into the southbound lane, and struck a bicyclist.
The SUV then struck another vehicle. The bicyclist, a man in his 30s, was killed on impact.
Three others injured in the accident were transported to New York Methodist Hospital.
The impact of this gruesome accident spread shattered glass, car parts and smashed vehicles stretching for five blocks.
A witness of the accident saw the driver of SUV hit a Toyota Camry that stopped at a red light at Dean Street and Fourth Avenue. Slammed right into it without breaking.
After rear ending the Camry, witnesses say the driver backed up, went around the Camry then drove into oncoming traffic at a high speed where he then hit the bicyclist near Atlantic Avenue.
The scene was just so tragic. The driver kept on going with the man on his hood, striking a black car before crashing again on Flatbush. Bicycle parts could still be seen stuck in the wheel.
Several people were taken to nearby hospitals, including the driver of the Toyota Camry and an Uber driver who had three passengers in his vehicle.
Cyclist Killed After Bike Shattered in Gruesome SUV Crash Near Barclays
Paul Ajlouny, New York personal injury lawyer, weighs in on this tragic fatal crash. “this was no accident, this was a total disregard for human life. The fact that a vehicle was rear ended and the driver of the SUV continued on to hit the cyclist — criminal. It will not be surprising to learn that this driver was in some way impaired. As the picture shows below, snapped by a witness at the scene, this was no accident, this is a crime scxene.” Says, Mr. Ajlouny.
“From the eyewitness events that took place, once the driver of the SUV hit the car on Dean street, he panicked and tried to make a run for it, running the red light and then hitting the cyclist. The sick thing is there was not one rational thought in this crazed SUV drivers mind. He continued on with the cyclist on the hood of his vehicle, hit another vehicle and then crashed into the intersection on Atlantic and fourth.” Comments, Mr. Ajlouny
