Frightening video clearly shows Great Grandfather José Flores hit by NYPD scooter.

NYPD officer Thomas Hopper lost control of his scooter striking Flores in Brooklyn across the street at Liberty Avenue and Barbey Street in Cypress Hills in August of 2012.

Officer Hopper claimed that Flores was jaywalking, in the middle of the street, darting in front of him. Video surveillance tells a different story.

just cost the city nearly $3 million, the victim’s lawyer told The Post on Monday.

Sadly, NYPD officer Hopper issued a misdemeanor summons to the badly injured, great grandfather for jaywalking, claiming that Flores darted out in front of him in the middle of the street between parked cars.

The video clearly shows Flores, crossing at a corner, looking both ways, were there were no cars around.

Officer Hoppers lie cost the city 3 million dollars.

After dealing with the courts and a stint in jail, a judge finally released Flores, where he was hospitalized for four months to treat two fractured vertebrae.

He won the $2.9 settlement from New York City before the case ever even saw trial.

Officials won’t say where they’ve placed NYC’s controversial speed cameras.
But based on where and when tickets were issued, about half of them appear to be in fixed locations.
The rest are mounted on city vehicles and rove from place to place.

In 2014,

  • 471,625 speeding tickets were issued by speed cameras.
    (Compared to 117,767 speeding tickets issued by officers.)
  • Speeding cameras issued $23,581,250 in fines.
  • Vehicle crashes near cameras declined 3.9%
  • Crashes with injuries near cameras declined 13.4% *

2 pedestrians struck in Inwood

INWOOD, N.Y.

Tuesday night in Inwood, a borough of Manhattan, One pedestrian was killed and another was critically injured when they were struck while crossing the street.

The accident happened at 209th Street and Ninth Avenue around 10:30 p.m.

A Ford Explorer was westbound on West 207th Street when the two pedestrians tried to run across the street mid-block. The Explorer braked, but could not stop, and hit both pedestrians. Both pedestrians were thrown into the eastbound lanes of West 207th Street, where they were struck by a 2004 Toyota sedan.

A 24-year-old man was run over by the driver side tires, and a 35-year-old man was struck by the driver side fender.

Both men suffered head and body injuries. They were transported my ambulance to St. Barnabas Hospital. The 24-year-old was pronounced dead. The 35-year-old remains in critical condition.

The accident remains under investigation continues.

207th Street between Ninth Avenue and 10th Avenue was closed to traffic due to the active police investigation.

According to New York car accident lawyer Paul Ajlouny, “In NYC we have a culture of jaywalker all the time.”,  says Mr. Ajlouny. Speed and Jaywalking just are a lethal combination.

Fatality, 4 injured, car jumps curb in the Bronx

Bronx: Fatal Accident 1420 Grand Concourse.

Breaking News: MOUNT EDEN neighborhood, Bronx– Fatality and serious injury accident.

A car lost control, jumped a curb, killing one person and injuring several others in the Bronx.

The accident happened at 170 Street and Grand Concourse in the Mount Eden section around 6:45 p.m this evening.

The car lost control, jumped the curb and crashed into a building, 1420 Grand Concourse.

One person has been pronounced dead at the scene and four others are reported injured. Two people are listed in critical condition, one a child.

The driver of the car is in serious condition. All of the injured were taken to Lincoln Hospital.

Witnesses say the people who were hit were waiting on the sidewalk for a bus.

Woman critically injured, struck, pinned between taxis in NYC

A 42-year-old women was critically injured Monday morning when she was struck and pinned between two taxis on a Midtown Manhattan street, according to authorities.

Rosemarie Mifsud, the victim was putting her luggage in the trunk of a cab outside 750 Seventh Ave. about 6 a.m. when another taxi hit her from behind, wedging her between the two vehicles, cops said.

Rosemarie Mifsud was in New York to attend the wake of a friend, he said.

Mifsud, was taken by ambulance to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition.

Leslaw Zielinski, 61, the cab driver who was about to take her to the airport remained on the scene as did Mohamed Gendia, who was driving the cab that struck her, officials said.

Gendia just finished his first year as a licensed cabbie and has a clean record, a spokesman with the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission said.

A witness who saw the crash noticed the first taxi’s passenger was near the trunk then saw another cab smash right into the back; crushing her.

He heard the women her scream. Then he witnessed the cab back-up and the women fall to the ground. Her legs were crushed. There was heavy bleeding.

The sister of Rosemarie Mifsud, said her sister suffered compound leg fractures. Police suggest the cause of the crash, may have been the result of icy road conditions.

MTA Bus Hits 15-Year-Old Girl in Brooklyn

An MTA Bus hit a A 15-year-old girl as she was crossing Grand Street and Union Ave in Wliiamsburg, Brooklyn this Friday.

The girl was immediately transported to the hospital with a severe left leg injury according to NYPD.

Police say the teen was trying to cross the street at the time of the accident.

It has been reported that the the driver, a 29-year MTA veteran, will be charged with failure to yield. This is similar to the MTA bus driver who fatally struck a 78-year-old in East Flatbush in December of last year.
