Daily News Truck Accident
A driver for the Daily News was killed this Sunday morning when his delivery truck collided with a green outer-borough taxi in Brooklyn, according to NY authorities.
The deadly collision happened early Sunday morning around 5:45 a.m. at the intersection of Nostrand and Flushing Avenues in Williamsburg.
A vehicle not involved in the accident, dash cam video taken, shows the Daily News truck approach the intersection at a yellow light before it collides with the taxi, which comes from the right.
The collision was so violent that it flipped the Daily News truck over.
When NYPD arrived at the scene, they found the driver, Jonathan Long of Brooklyn, unconscious with traumatic injuries.
Long was transported to Woodhull Hospital where he was pronounced DOA, police said.
The 58-year-old passenger of the truck was also taken to Woodhull Hospital. Listed in stable condition.
“Often times, inner city commercial delivery truck drivers (UPS, FedEx, Post Office (USPO) and other delivery trucks) don’t wear seat belts and may even drive with their doors open, since it is routine for them to hop in and out of their trucks.” Suggest Paul Ajlouny, New York personal injury attorney.
The taxi driver was treated at the scene. The accident is still being investigated.
