Teens hit-and-run victims in the Bronx
Dylon Ramirez a 16-year-old boy is dead after he was struck by two cars in the Bronx. Both cars fled the scene.
A 15-year-old girl suffered critical injuries in the accident early evening Sunday.
According to authorities the teens were crossing Baychester Avenue when they were struck by a Honda Accord traveling north.
They say 16-year-old Dylon Ramirez was then hit by another car going south. Both drivers fled the scene but the driver of the Honda returned and was taken into custody
Both teens were taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where Ramirez was pronounced dead. The 15-year-old is listed in critical condition.
UPDATE: Arrest made in hit-and-run that killed Bronx teen
Police have arrested Shawn Williams, 26, as the hit-and-run driver that killed 16-year-old Dylon Ramirez and critically injured a 15 year old teenage girl. Williams was headed north on Baychester Avenue when he hit the two youths as they crossed the road near Crawford Avenue.
Williams is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death and Reckless Driving.
Police are still searching for the second driver.
Felony Hit-and-Run in New York:
In New York If the accident results in serious injury and a driver flees, the crime is considered a felony, punishable by a fine between $2,000 and $5,000 and additional penalties, including prison time.
