School bus collides with jeep on LI
The good news is that none of the occupants of the bus were injured. In Central Islip, NY a mini school bus carrying two developmentally disabled children collided with an apparently drunk man in a jeep on Long Island Wednesday morning.
The bus and car crashed just after 8 a.m. at the intersection of Connetquot Avenue and Ridge Avenue in Central Islip, and both vehicles caught fire.
Neither of the students, who were reportedly in wheelchairs, was hurt. Two bus aides and a driver were also uninjured.
The students were taken off the bus and taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Police say the driver of the jeep crossed a yellow line and struck the bus.
The driver was charged for driving while intoxicated and drugs.
